The fishing sesion was held on 12 august 2023, it started at 2 PM and it ended up around 5 PM.
I've used a Nissin Ares Dreams DRYSZ-705S lenght: 7'5" lure: 0,5-8g line: 2-6 lbs fishing rod, a Abu Revo STX reel and a 0.18 mm fishing line, either a Trabucco one or another fishing brand (I don't remember which).
The trouts were found at the end of the running water, close to the wall. Even though I've wanted to use some woblers, in the end, due to the fact that the water was too fast for my tastes, me being used to fish in a slow moving water, I've ended up using a spinner, I think that it was from Mepps, 1 size, golden pallet with small red dots. Maybe the red dots made the difference as the plain silver/golden ones were chased only by some small chubs.
All fish were released as soon as posible. Though, in the trout cases I should pay more attention at how I hold them and I should try to limit the interaction with them as they may suffocate or die due to improper touches (i.e. I may break their spine/backbone due to improper holding).
I was fishing up the current, the attack seemed to come at the middle of the ,,hole", at the surface, when the lure was closer to the current. The attack was forcefull, the bite was very good, in the mouth, not on the outside the lip. The fight was great, I didn't expect them to swim so fast in the current, teven upstream; there were 2 surface touchings.
Tips for beginers:
Tip 1:
pay attention at the river's margins, in this case, you can see that the mud/stones were wet at a higher level than the water level, that means that the water level is fluctuating and, in this case, I've knew of it before fishing due to the fact that, upstream, exists a dam. So, try to find out at what hours the dam lets the water flow as to avoid possible accidents.
Tip 2:
Clear water... can mean big depths, try to use proper shoes, clothing and bags, those who won't held back if you step wrong or step in a hole. A bad bag can become a dead weight. Darker water.. can mean an even deeper water. If you go upstream, through water, use a fan like type of walking, that means that you should walk through shallower water and you can try to use your rod (if you can't find a proper stick) to appreciate the water depth.
Tip 3:
Check the mud for animal traces. Big predators, like bears may represent a danger. Check that up with local fishermen or ask about that the forest ranger. You can also check up for otter traces as.. especially in a small river like that, an otter means that your fishing trips is very posible to be withouth results and that for a loooong period of time until the fish resoursec will regenerate naturally or until new fish populations will be added artificially by your angling associations. In my case, the next day to this fishing event, I've saw an otter close to where I've fished.
! Boar traces can also represent a danger for you as they can be imprevisible! Especially those who have younglings.
Tip 4:
Change between your lures, until you have attacks even if they are shy.
Tip 5:
Use a good pair of sunglasses, that'll help you protect your eyes, to avoid accidents, to better play the lure and check up for fish attacks.
Tip 6:
Always check the weather conditions and water level. A storm may find you at the wrong place at the wrong time. The weather forecast may be wrong or you may be in a deep valey, where a shourt summer rain can mean.. danger for you!
